STEMkitFinder exists because the STEM subscription category has a specific failure mode that nobody writes about honestly: the kit arrives, it is genuinely good, the child builds it once, and then it goes on a shelf. Six months later you are paying for something nobody has opened.

Every roundup we could find ranked on the contents of the first box. We think that measures the wrong thing. So we built a comparison that scores what happens after the novelty wears off — and published the weighting so you can check our working.

What we cover

Our scored comparison covers subscription STEM and play kits for children roughly 3 to 12: ibrick, CrunchLabs, KiwiCo, MEL Science, Little Passports, Green Kid Crafts and Lovevery. We add brands when they are large enough that parents are genuinely choosing between them, not to inflate a list.

Where we stand

We have a favourite, and we say so on every page rather than pretending to a neutrality we do not have. ibrick wins under our weighting because it is the only kit built around reusing one set of parts on a weekly cycle. Our methodology page sets out exactly how much that weighting is worth, so you can discount it if you disagree.

We also earn a commission when people subscribe through our links. That is stated on every page, in the footer, and in full on our disclosure page. We would rather be a site with an obvious position and accurate facts than one performing objectivity it cannot deliver.
